Congregation Beth Israel Synagogue

Project Description:

Located at Oak Street and 28th Avenue in Vancouver, Congregation Beth Israel underwent an extensive transformation and expansion of the existing synagogue and site.

The overall project was split into two sub-projects: the Synagogue and associated spaces for Beth Israel, and the parkade, which was a shared endeavour between Beth Israel and Vancouver Talmud Torah School.

The Synagogue now features a new 500-seat sanctuary, with the former sanctuary being transformed into a stunning social space and a new 200 stall parkade. Other programs include cultural display, chapel, meeting rooms, classrooms, administrative areas, and outdoor gathering areas.

Westbourne Projects Limited acted as the owner’s representative for both parties. Teamwork was critical on this project to ensure that occupancy was received in time for Beth Israel to use the new facility for the High Holidays in September 2014. This complex project was delivered on time and on budget.
