Project Description
The Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre (VHEC) serves an important role in educating the community about the Holocaust and other genocides, while promoting human rights, inclusion, and the prevention of hatred and discrimination. As part of the redevelopment of the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver campus, the project will create a new home for VHEC that supports its mission through dedicated exhibition, education, and community spaces.
The new Centre will be integrated into the redeveloped JCC campus, requiring careful coordination between cultural, educational, and building systems to create an environment suitable for preserving and displaying important historical collections. The project team is collaborating closely with the Canadian Conservation Institute, exhibition consultants, and technical advisors to meet the unique demands of a museum environment. From environmental controls and lighting to building envelope performance and flexible exhibition infrastructure that supports future programming.
Westbourne Projects is providing project management and owner’s representative services throughout the design and delivery process, supporting stakeholder coordination, consultant procurement, cost management, scheduling, and pre-construction planning. Working collaboratively with the VHEC Board of Directors, the design team, and project partners, Westbourne is helping guide the creation of a meaningful cultural space that will preserve important histories, educate future generations, and strengthen the community’s commitment to remembrance and human rights.
